Below is an image from a kid's book I wrote, " Adam and Ringo go West - A Cowboy Story". It's avaliable on Amazon as an Ebook ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MYVCYDV ) and available from Afrika Impressions Media (AIM) Publications or from me as a soft copy. Here is an excerpt from it:

Chapter Six – A Heroes tale
Adam awoke to Ringo licking his face. “Where am I”? He thought. He looked around and then it all came back to him. He was on a cattle drive with Billy and his cowboys, but where were they? He could only see three of the cowboys’ horses, but other than that, everyone was gone, and the fire was out. “Where is everyone?” thought Adam and he decided to go and investigate.

Adam put on Ringo's saddle and climbed on. They headed towards the river so they both could get some fresh water. While they were walking Adam thought, “Did Billy leave us behind? But why are there still three horses tied up? Anyways, maybe they all went to the river to wash and fill their flasks with fresh water for the long ride to the market.”
As they arrived by the river Adam spotted a calf stuck in the mud on the river's edge. Ringo quickened his pace towards the calf struggling in the mud. Adam had to pull on Ringo's reigns so that they didn't become stuck in the mud as well. They looked at the poor calf moaning and groaning, trying to free himself. The more he struggled, the deeper he sank into the mud. Adam realised that he had to act fast before things get worse. “What can I do?” he thought. Then he remembered the training he had with Billy. He quickly took the rope out from Ringo's saddle and made a lasso from it. Adam swung the lasso above him with confidence as if he has done this a thousand times before. He threw the lasso towards the calf's head but missed. The calf was now moaning louder. Adam quickly pulled the rope back and tried again, but again he missed. Things were now looking dangerous for the calf. Adam composed himself, pulled the rope back, swung it in the air, and then threw it towards the calf's head. Success! The rope slipped around the calf's neck and Adam quickly pulled it tight.

He hurriedly tied the rope around Ringo's saddle. Adam climbed onto Ringo and nudged Ringo’s sides with the spurs on his boots. At that, Ringo rose off the ground onto his hind legs, Adam had to hold on tightly so that he didn't fall off. Then Ringo
began to edge forward slowly. With every step he began to pull the calf out of the mud. Finally, with one last step, the calf was safely out. Adam jumped off and patted Ringo on the head, saying, “Well done my friend, well done.” With the calf still tied to Ringo, they headed back to the campsite.

After a short walk, they saw the campsite and all the cowboys were back. Once they reached the campsite, the cowboys began cheering for Adam and Ringo. Billy told Adam, “We were worried when we came back to find that you and Ringo weren't here. Why is that calf tied to Ringo?” Adam then told Billy and the cowboys what had happened. How they went searching for the cowboys by the river and then finding the calf stuck in the mud and how Ringo pulled it out. The cowboys were astonished and asked, “Did that little pony really pull the calf out by himself?” They all cheered again and threw their hats up into the air. One of the cowboys picked up his hat and cut two holes in it and placed it onto Ringo’s head.

Billy told Adam that he and Ringo were heroes and the cowboys then hoisted Adam onto their shoulders and stood around Ringo. They started cheering, “Adam, Ringo, Adam, Ringo.” Once the celebrations had calmed down, Adam enquired from Billy as to where they were when he had woken up. Billy explained, “While we were sleeping, a pack of coyotes tried to steal a calf from the herd and we quickly jumped up and chased the coyotes away, but the calf went missing, so we went looking for it.”

After all the excitement had died down, they all packed up and began their journey to the market. As they made their way across the prairie, Adam and Ringo took in all the beautiful sights. The prairie was lush with green grass and plants. There were lovely tall trees and a magnificent mountain range in the background. After five hours of riding on horseback, they reached the market. The cowboys stayed behind to look after the cattle while Billy, Adam and Ringo went into the market.
